SciSummary Brief Overview
SciSummary is an AI research assistant designed to help people read and understand scientific articles and academic papers more quickly. Instead of skimming dozens of pages for the key ideas, you upload a paper (or multiple papers) and SciSummary generates structured outputs that mirror how research is typically consumed—highlighting the most important parts without turning the result into a generic “one-paragraph recap.”
Beyond summarization, SciSummary is built for research workflows: you can organize papers into a personal library, ask questions directly about a document (or a set of documents), and even analyze figures and tables to interpret results more efficiently. The platform also emphasizes traceability by linking outputs back to the source material, which helps when you need to verify claims or pull accurate references for writing.
Simple How-To-Use
- Create an account and start with the free trial option shown on the site.
- Add a paper using one of the supported input methods (upload a file, paste text, use a public URL, import from Zotero, or search for an article from within SciSummary).
- Choose a summary style (for example: a full overview, section-by-section, key points, simplified explanation, or other modes).
- Customize the output by selecting summary length, preferred language, and (if needed) a specific page range to focus on only part of the document.
- Use “chat” for follow-ups by asking questions about methods, results, limitations, or comparisons across multiple papers.
- Save and organize what you’ve processed using folders/tags/color coding so you can return to it later.
