Before doing my research on what oil I should use, I thought that using cortisone cream would work best (after all, that’s all I ever used back in the day when I played football). However, after looking at side effects of cortisone cream  I decided that this was not an option due to the negative effects it has on the liver. Thus I started looking at essential oils for arthritis , given how most forums and sites state that they are good for muscle pain relief.

The first thing I noticed is that there are a lot of different types of oil out there, so picking one proved difficult. If you ask 10 different people what they use or recommend then you will get 10 different answers; but why? Well, everyone has their own opinion on which works best based upon their needs, body chemistry (some require more potent doses others), etc.

Knowing this I decided to look at what some of the more popular brands were and see if they had any side effects . What I found was that just about every single brand has a disclaimer on their website stating that using them can cause skin irritation, stomach upset and other such ailments. That’s when it hit me: why not try and make my own mixture?

After looking into how to create my own blend based upon different sites and forums I finally settled on one combination of oils, which seemed very interesting…more so because it didn’t have the standard type of oil people normally associate with muscle pain relief (eucalyptus, peppermint). What Causes Muscle Soreness

Muscle soreness, also known as delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS), is one of the most widely experienced discomforts known to man. It can occur in nearly every type of exercise including cardiovascular exercises, weight training, team sports and other activities that involve repetitive or high-intensity movement. Muscle pain associated with DOMS usually arises within the first 24 hours after strenuous activity (although it could take up to 72 hours to become apparent). Some athletes describe this sensation as deep muscular pain while others feel more discomfort on the surface. Persistent soreness should always be evaluated by a doctor to ensure that there is no serious injury or medical condition. This type of pain often occurs after the first few times you work out, but may also occur if you have not worked out for some time due to illness, travel or other factors. Muscle soreness is usually associated with eccentric muscle contractions, which are those in which your muscles lengthen as they contract (for example, when your feet hit the ground during walking).

Muscle Soreness Causes

Most people associate DOMS primarily with weight training and exercise such as running and cycling. However, this type of discomfort can be experienced after any activity where major muscle groups are used repetitively against resistance – especially if intensity has been increased quickly. For example, many individuals experience this uncomfortable sensation after starting a new exercise routine or increasing the intensity, duration or frequency of their current workout program.

Following strenuous activity, muscle soreness may be felt within 48 to 72 hours after initial exertion. This delayed onset is often due to microscopic damage that your body must repair before soreness can subside. This pain typically peaks between 24 and 72 hours after the event that triggered it (referred to as “the window of vulnerability”). The intensity of this pain depends on how much tissue has been torn apart, however minor tears are not associated with severe discomfort; it’s usually limited inflammation but large tears lead to significant/severe pain through the accumulation of fluid in the injured area. Muscle fibers need time to adapt to increased loading—specifically, they need time to develop more myofibrils (the contractile units in muscle fibers).

Muscle soreness is frequently associated with stiffness and tenderness when you push on the involved muscles. When it comes to DOMS, pain and stiffness tend to be exacerbated during and immediately following exercise and improve within 60 minutes after finishing your workout. The intensity of this discomfort progressively diminishes over the course of 48 hours if no additional tearing occurs when working out. It may take up to three weeks for a muscle completely healed from injuries that occur during strenuous exercise (and much longer if there were significant tears in the tissue).

How Essential Oils Are Generally Used

The use of essential oils is nothing new. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Indians and Chinese have been using them for thousands of years to treat different ailments within people’s bodies. What is Foundation?

How to start with makeup? Where to begin, what tools are needed? I will be getting into makeup looks at a later date but for now here is the basics on how you can get started.

The first thing you need before you can wear any kind of makeup is good skin. A good base so to speak. This means no blemishes, acne, scars etc…You should have even skin tone where it doesn’t look like you have patches of dark and light areas on your face. If this describes your face then go see a dermatologist or buy some products from a drugstore that target these types of issues such as the Clean and Clear line.  

Now once you have clear skin next step is finding a foundation that works for you. What I mean by this is, you must find a foundation color that matches your skin tone as best as possible. So if you have tan skin I wouldn’t go with a light pink as it would make the face look washed out. Instead pick one that has more yellow or orange undertones to give off a glowy effect instead of an ashy look.

Best Foundation for Large Pores and Wrinkles

If you are very pale then try going 1 shade darker to avoid looking like a porcelain doll. When picking a foundation first use a white pencil and draw on the area where the blemishes used to be to see how dark or light it looks before applying any product. There should be no difference in shading since all your shadows should have been erased from acne etc…

Once you have applied the foundation go in with a powder to set it. I suggest using a loose powder over anything else because it looks more natural and will not clog your pores. After this apply some blush, bronzer or highlighter depending on your look that day.

Jojoba Oil for Lips

Have you ever had really dry, chapped lips? I have found the secret to wonderful soft lips. Jojoba oil! This is my little miracle cure for this problem that has bothered me all of my life. I have tried just about everything on both prescription and non-prescription levels but nothing worked until now. My recipe includes jojoba oil, a few extra ingredients that you might not have in your cupboard and some wonderful lip balm that I found at my local health food store.

Jojoba Oil

The jojoba oil would normally come in a dark top glass bottle with a dropper. I do not use this because to me it is too thick and sticky, so I pour some into another bottle to save for later use.

Extra Ingredients

to make the final product more healing for cracked lips. These ingredients are optional but if you want your lips to be able to stand out in the coldest winter, not feel chapped or have that sandpapery feeling then you should try using these extra ingredients.

Beeswax pastilles

the beeswax pastilles are used to thicken the recipe so it is more solid and sticks better on your lips. Some people use wax, but I do not like the idea of putting wax on my lips because it is stiff and will crack your lips even more. If you use beeswax then make sure that they are organic pastilles because the non-organic ones are full of pesticides.

Menthol crystals

these crystals give a cooling effect to the product which feels very nice on dry chapped lips. It also has a slight numbing effect so if you have pain from your cracked lips, the menthol will help take that away for a little bit giving you relief.


I like to add 1/4 tsp of flavor (vanilla, peppermint and lemon) to 1 tbsp of jojoba oil. I add this to the jojoba oil and stir it up so that the flavor blends well with it all. You can also use a different kind of oil, such as coconut or olive to get a different taste if you like.

For 1 oz of jojoba oil I added:

– 2 tbsp of beeswax pastilles

  – 1 tsp of menthol crystals

– 1/4 tsp of vanilla flavor

*If you have a different taste in mind, then add whatever oil or flavor you like to this recipe. You can make a big batch and put a few drops in a lip balm container later. I do not use essential oils because it is not strong enough for me so I use flavors instead.

Lip balm container

I have seen these lip balms at my local Wholefoods, but you can purchase them online by clicking here . They are reusable and last quite a while. If you want to make your own or do not like this product then try using any glass jar that you like to store your homemade lip balm in.

Now that all of the ingredients are prepared, it is time to make the lip balm!

Take a pot and place it on your stove top. Pour 2 tbsp of jojoba oil into the pot with the beeswax pastilles and menthol crystals . Put on medium heat and stir until the crystals are completely melted. Take off of the stove and let it cool down a bit before adding your flavor, stirring well. After this is done, pour the mixture into your glass jar or lip balm container . Let it set for about 30 minutes. The final product should be solid but still not too hard to spread on your lips.

And voila! You’re done. Apply to your lips as often as needed and enjoy your new healthy, moisturized lips!

Lasers are so much more accurate, safe and precise than they were even a few years ago that more and more people are using them for cosmetic reasons. One of the biggest issues women and men have is neck fat or what we commonly know as a double chin. Today our experts weigh in on “Proven and Tested Exercises to Get Rid of Neck Fat!

Having a double chin can quick sap our confidence, it’s a hard thing to hide from other (unless you wear a scarf all day, I guess?).

No worries, however, this too can be fixed with some work (and no, I don’t mean surgery).

First things first, the appearance of a double chin can be caused by loose, hanging skin. I made a video talking about how you can tighten the skin on your face, neck and chin, so that might be a good place to start.

A double chin, also known as submental fat, is a common condition that occurs when a layer of fat forms below your chin.

This can be caused by different things and appear in a wide range of people. Depending on why you have the appearance of a double chin will also help us figure out what “fix” to use.

How Neck Fat and Double Chins Appear

The most common reasons for this pesky condition are:

1. Excess Weight

As we gain body fat, our bodies tend to store them differently, depending where we have our fat cells. Some amass it on their midsection, some around the thighs and some of us tend to accumulate some of it around the neck.

Losing this weight may help, but it can potentially also lead to stretched skin that still appears like a double chin.

Losing some fat will help, but don’t be discouraged if that’s not the end of the journey for you. You may have to do some face toning to completely get rid of it.

2. Genetics

Sometimes, neck fat and double chin can be inherited from your family. A lot of this has to do with collagen and elastin production. Some of us are blessed to have our collagen factories producing a lot of these “structural proteins” while some of us need some additional help.

3. Age

Skin sagging is one of the most known effects of aging. In studies where test subjects were asked to guess the age of people on photos, research found that people tend to add decades to their estimated age, if they saw loose, sagging skin. It accounted for more than wrinkles, gray hair or sun spots. The biggest “age tell” we have is loose skin.

Exercises That Get Rid of Neck Fat

Double chin or neck fat shouldn’t be a reason for you to lose your confidence.

It also isn’t that difficult to get rid of them, make yourself look younger, and have a prominent jawline.

We’re not talking about neck lift procedures or neck liposuction, too.

We’re talking about solutions that are easier to do and much, much, more affordable than expensive surgeries.

Here they are:

1. Head Rotations

This exercise is pretty much a warm-up of all the other things we’ll be putting on this list.

A warm-up is also essential, so you don’t injure your neck and shock your muscles from all the exercise you’ll be doing.

Head rotations are pretty much what their name implies.

Very gently, you rotate your head clockwise for sixteen counts and then rotate it counterclockwise for another sixteen counts.

2. Ceiling Whistles

To do this, you have to sit straight and relax your shoulders. You then look up at the ceiling and whistle.

If you don’t know how to whistle, it shouldn’t be a problem as you can pretend you’re whistling and blow soft air into the ceiling.

However, you should remember that your lips should cause a contraction on the sides of your neck.

Do this for about ten seconds daily.

3. Jaw Jut

After whistling or blowing soft air into the ceiling, push your lower jaw so that you can stretch the skin under your chin.

Hold that for ten seconds, then relax your jaw and return to your relaxed sitting position.

You can also choose to rest from the previous exercise before proceeding to this one, so you don’t strain your neck and get a stiff neck.

4. Neck Stretch

This exercise doesn’t differ much from the previous two we’ve mentioned as it still involves tilting your head back and looking at the ceiling.

The addition to this exercise is to push your tongue towards your mouth’s roof.

Like all exercises, this should also be done for ten seconds.

5. Ball Exercise

No, we’re not talking about you having to go outside, find a court, dribble a ball and shoot some hoops.

This exercise doesn’t require you to stand up and go out.

You have to stay inside of your home and find a comfortable seating position.

You will only need a ball that’s about nine to ten inches.

If you don’t have that, you can also use a smaller ball such as a tennis ball.

You then press the ball against your chin so that it squeezes the ball and pushes back all that excess skin.

Repeat this exercise daily for about twenty seconds.

6. Tongue Stretch

You may be thinking, “Haven’t we done this before with the neck stretch?”

Nope. This is different.

You lift your head again and look at the ceiling and then try and reach your nose using your tongue.

The tongue and throat muscles are engaged with this move and have reports of helping with tightening neck skin and helping to get rid of neck fat.

7. Lion Yawn

Have you ever seen lions roar? Like us humans, they open their mouths very widely.

The only difference is that they stick their tongues out.

If you watch all those documentaries about wildlife and lions, you’ll know what we mean.

To do this exercise, you open your mouth wide and stretch your tongue out as far as you can.

Do this exercise for ten seconds.

Then relax for a few seconds and then repeat the exercise for about ten times.

While there’s no need for you to do all of these exercises daily, you should remember to warm up and religiously do at least one or two activities daily to have the best chance to get rid of neck fat.

These exercises will also have little effect if you don’t control your diet.
